DESCRIPTION:Join artists Reggie Wilson and Michel Kouakou of Reggie Wilson/Fist and Heel Performance Group for this welcoming workshop. Community Shouts are joyful, participatory sing-alongs that invite people to connect with their rhythmic voices, bodies, and one another. Through songs, rhythms, and storytelling from Africa and the African Diaspora — including the Caribbean and the American South — participants explore shared traditions and cultural connections. No prior experience is needed, and everyone is encouraged to participate at their own comfort level.\n \nReggie Wilson/Fist and Heel Performance Group creates dance and multi-disciplinary performance work, which often articulates the intricate relationship individuals and communities have to ritual, their bodies and their cultures. Workshops offered by the Company are a reflection of its performance articulation and these concerns.\nThis free community workshop is open to all abilities; comfortable clothing is recommended. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged online or by calling 413.243.9919 x166. Tickets are available at the door, pending availability.\nThis workshop is in partnership with the Common Room at Zion Lutheran Church, and part of the 10×10 Upstreet Arts Festival, the Berkshires’ first winter arts festival featuring new art, dance, music, theater, and more.
