Block Printing Botanicals
IN-PERSON at Berkshire Botanical Garden.
Led by artist Dave Lesako, this workshop focuses on design, tool use and printing by hand. This process involves transferring an image to the linoleum, carving out the lines or shapes, inking the plate and printing it to paper to achieve stark black-and-white or color compositions. Students should come with ideas, photos (of their own making, no copying) and/or sketches. Visit berkshirebotanical.org for a complete list of required materials.
Dave Lesako taught art to students of all ages and abilities for 38 years. After retiring as a public school teacher, he worked as an adjunct art instructor at Waynesburg University, teaching drawing, watercolors and printmaking. Now focusing on his own artwork, he creates luscious pastel landscapes, often en plein air.
