Concert: Stephane Wrembel
Stephane Wrembel grew up in Fontainebleau, France, where fellow Frenchman, Jean “Django” Reinhardt spent his last years. Wrembel shares the causal musical elegance of the Romani guitar master, who famously invented a new style of guitar-playing after his left hand was badly burned in a fire. A study in pleasing paradoxes, Wrembel and his band mix nonchalance with joyful virtuosity, carrying on the genre-breaking traditions of jazz guitar.
